Prelude Program

Ages 6–8Weekends OnlyPiano OnlyAn introduction to something greater.

By definition, a prelude is an introduction to something greater. At Onset Music, we believe that introduction can be just as meaningful for the teacher as it is for the student.

Our Prelude Program gives our most accomplished students the opportunity to begin their teaching journey, while introducing a new generation to the joy of learning music.

Our student-teachers are handpicked based on their musical accomplishments, dedication, and character. Each has demonstrated the qualities we believe make a great future instructor and has earned the opportunity to begin developing their teaching skills.

It's a unique experience where two musicians begin something greater together — one discovering the joy of learning, the other discovering the joy of teaching.

  • Ages 6–8
  • Piano only
  • Brand new to piano — no experience needed
  • 30-minute lessons · $25/session
  • Weekends only

Songwriting Workshop

High School · 8 Weeks

Come in with an idea. Leave with an original song.

Maybe you have already written a lyric, found a chord progression or come up with a melody but are not sure what to do next. Or maybe you have always wanted to write a song but have no idea where to begin.

Either way, this workshop is for you.

Over eight weeks, you will take your own musical ideas and develop them into a complete original song. We will explore lyrics, melodies, chord progressions, song structure, rhythm, influences, performance and more — with an emphasis on giving you practical tools you can use whenever you get stuck.

Each week you will bring your song into the room, play what you have been working on, exchange ideas and receive constructive feedback. Each workshop is limited to just three students, ensuring every songwriter has plenty of time to play, ask questions and receive personalized feedback.

Two separate sessions will be offered at different days and times, each following the same eight-week curriculum. The workshop concludes with a final performance where you will share your completed original song.

No previous songwriting experience is necessary. Students should be able to play basic chord progressions on their instrument while singing. Bring your instrument, something to write with, and your ideas.

  • 8-week creative workshop
  • Limited to 3 students per session
  • Lyrics, melody, structure & more
  • Optional final performance of your original song
  • High school age group
  • No prior songwriting experience needed
